“Teens for Jeans” gets some immortal support

I said I wouldn’t this. I promised I wouldn’t. Some promises, however, are made to be broken. And I’m breaking this one for a really good cause. So here it is: Twilight stars Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz joined Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries and a growing list of other celebrities in supporting the “Teens for Jeans” campaign which collects jeans for homeless youth in the U.S., Canada and those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

This is the third annual “Teens for Jeans” campaign. Lat year’s drive received approximately 200,000 paris of jeans. This year, teens across the U.S. are rallying with teen not-for-profit DoSomething.org and NYC-based teen retailer Aeropostale to make 2010 a record year for the jeans drive. The initiative has received more than half a million jeans and Aeropostale has donated another 100,ooo brand new pairs of jeans bring to the already collected to more than 625,000.

The campaign’s success is attributable to the amazing efforts of teens nationwide. Thousands of local drives have been implemented across the nation to encourage donations and help homeless teens in local communities as well as those in affected by the disaster in Haiti.

“We are completely blown away by the response,” said DoSomething.org Chief Marketing Officer, Aria Finger. “No one believes in the power of teenagers more than DoSomething.org and they exceeded all our expectations as usual. Close to a third of all homeless children in the U.S. and Canada will receive jeans through this campaign.”
