The wizarding world is making an unexpected stop in New York City this summer. Harry Potter fans who want to send the film series off with the ultimate swan song when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 hits theaters this summer, however, will definitely want to plan to see the final installment of the series in NYC.
Beginning 5 April, 2011 fans can enter the famous wizard’s magical world when Harry Potter: The Exhibition makes a previously unscheduled stop in Discovery Times Square, where it will remain through 5 September, 2011 when it goes international.
“We are pleased to offer east coast fans this bonus destination of the exhibition all housed within the perfect venue,” said Eddie Newquist, chief creative officer for GES. “There is no better way to celebrate the imagination and creativity of the Harry Potter film series than to actually walk among the iconic costumes and props that helped bring the world of the films to life.”
GES or Global Experience Specialists, Inc., in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, created a 14,000-square-foot experiential exhibition, where visitors will be able to visit dramatic displays inspired by Hogwarts™ film sets and see the amazing craftsmanship behind authentic costumes and props from the films. Original artifacts from both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be on display along with hundreds of original props and costumes from all the previous Harry Potter movies.
Harry Potter:The Exhibition offers fans the chance to view these authentic movie artifacts in settings inspired by the film sets including the Great hall, Hagrid’s hut, the Gryffindor common room and more.

Discovery Times Square (DTS) is New York City’s first large-scale exhibition center presenting visitors with limited-run, educational and immersive experiences. Past exhibitions have included Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, King Tut: Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of Pharaohs and Leonardo Da Vinci’s Workshop. Pompeii: The Exhibit is currently on display until April.
Harry Potter: The Exhibition opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 5 April, 2011 and runs through Monday, 5 September, 2011. The exhibition requires a time-entry ticket and guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to ensure the best date and time. Along with the Exhibition, Harry Potter fans have the April 2011 release of Harry Potters and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 on Blu-ray™ combo pack and DVD to look forward to. The much anticipated finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is due in theaters in July 2011.
