Top 5 preternatural video-on-demand (week ending 1 May)

The week ending on 1 May, 2011 was a great week for all types of preternatural films. According to Rentrak’s OnDemand Essentials Service five of the week’s ten most-viewed titles dealt with other races, wizards, fairy tales or realities beyond the every day one “normals” share.

The top five  preternatural videos-on-demand (VOD) were:

  • Gulliver’s Travels – Released to VOD on 19 April, this updated tale from Twentieth Century Fox snuck past wizards, warriors, princesses and technology to become the third most-viewed title  of the previous week.
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 – The first half of the much-anticipated conclusion to Warner Bros. Harry Potter franchise hung in to claim the Number 4 spot on the list.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Trader – The newest preternatural film which Twentieth Century Fox only released to VOD on 22 April manged to climb into the Number 5 spot.
  • Tangled – This animated retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale from Buena Vista was the eighth most-viewed film despite having been released to VOD audiences back on 29 March.
  • Tron: Legacy – Technology held on to the Number 9 spot for the week. Buena Vista released this film to VOD audiences on 5 April.
