Fans demand 4 preternatural videos

The week ending on 8 May, 2011 was a good week for all types of preternatural films. According to Rentrak’s OnDemand Essentials Service four of the week’s ten most-viewed titles dealt with other races, wizards, fairy tales or realities beyond the every day one “normals” share.

The top four  preternatural videos-on-demand (VOD) were:

  • Gulliver’s Travels – Released to VOD on 19 April, this updated tale from Twentieth Century Fox starring Jack Black as Lemuel Gulliver dropped to Number 4 among the most-viewed title  of the previous week.
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 – The first half of the much-anticipated conclusion to Warner Bros. Harry Potter franchise hung in to claim the Number 5 spot on the list.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Trader– Twentieth Century Fox’s newest addition to the Narnia franchise was the seventh most popular video on demand last week.
  • Tangled – This animated retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale from Buena Vista is still in the top ten, at Number 10, despite having been released to VOD audiences back on 29 March.
