Virgina ComiCon puts a little Fang(oria) in the weekend

Horror fans rejoice! Fangoria is coming to Virginia. Well, to the Virginia ComiCon in Richmond, VA on Saturday, 11 June, 2011.

This is an excellent opportunity for fans to meet and greet representatives of the world’s most horrifying film magazine. Though not originally conceived as a horror magazine by its seventh issue, which, coincidently featured a cover story on Stanley Kubrick’s iconic horror film The Shining, Fangoria was on the brink of making history, becoming the first national magazine wholly devoted to horror film. Today, Fangoria the most widely read horror-themed publication on the planet and representatives will be on hand to talk with readers in the Small Press Area.

Joining Fangoria in the Virginia ComiCon Small Press Area tomorrow are Ad House, 21st Century Sandshark Studios, Capes ‘N’ Babes, Stephen Burke and Mike Riley. Capes ‘N’ Babes is a webcomic by Chris Flick who had this to say about the Richmond event:

“It’s only a one day show but the guys at VA Comic Con always have a great show and invite lots of artists. Really, for a one day show, there’s a ton of artists there.”

Speaking of artists, among the announced guests are:

  • Louis Small Jr. the original Vampirella artist
  • Matt Slay a new artist doing some amazing work on the Hulk for Marvel Comics
  • Daniel Govar whose illustrations of Tolkien are remarkable

and many more!

This is shaping up to be a wonder-full show. Doors open at 10 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza West in Richmond and stay open until 4 p.m.  Admission is only $6 (children under 5 and anyone with a valid military ID are admitted FREE) who can pass that up?
