Possessed with the strange and ancient power of the Mai, Chloe King survived her first death. Now faced with a destiny that she is not entirely willing to follow, Chloe must choose between the life she wants for herself and the path that has been laid out in front of her.
The Nine Lives of Chloe King, is inspired by the series written by Liz Braswell, which follows the life of Chloe King. Believed to be a “Uniter”, Chloe is the only hope to end the Mai-Human war that has raged on since Ancient Egypt. As a Mai, Chloe possesses the following qualities:
- Enhanced strength, speed, and stamina
- Magnified reflexes and agility (allowing Mai to land on their feet after falling great distances)
- Increased healing and resistance to poison
- Heightened senses including hearing and smell
- Improved night vision
- Retractable claws
Still coping with her unresolved feelings for Brian, Chloe agrees to accompany him to meet his grandmother, Olivia, who was presumed dead. As Brian and Olivia become reacquainted, Chloe finally receives the email she’s been hoping for. Meanwhile, Valentina’s life hangs in the balance when she realizes that Zane’s intentions have nothing to do with his feelings for Jasmine.
Being a teenager is hard enough without the pressure of the fate of an entire race resting on your shoulders. Will Chloe fulfill her destiny or will teenage angst be the cause for disappointing a destiny thousands of years in the making?
